In the spring of 2015 we started monthly outings that gave people signed up for the History Camp Boston mailing list unique opportunities to learn more about history. As you can see from the list of events for 2015 (below), there is a wide variety, and they all have one thing in common: These tours or walks had never been offered before, or are rarely ever offered.
History Camp Boston Monthly Outings in 2015
- May: Curator tour of the “We Are One” exhibit at the Boston Public Library—Organized by Todd Andrlik, founder and editor of the Journal of the American Revolution. Thanks to Todd for inspiring us to do these every month.
- June: “Founders Trail Tour,” a walking tour with Rose Doherty, author and president of the Partnership of the Historic Bostons
- July: Reserved tour of the ship L’Hermione and reception at the Shirley-Eustis House
- August: “Taxes, Riots, and Revolution,” a walking tour with Liz Covart, author and founder of Ben Franklin’s World, in conjunction with Boston by Foot.
- September: “The End of Tory Road,” a walking tour (below) with author John Bell
- October: “Back Bay Deconstructed,” a walking tour with Jake Sconyers, founder of Boston Strolls
- November: “Gore Place Estate: A director’s tour of a Federal Period jewel”
- December: Private tour of the Museum of World War II in Natick—Filled

Planning Camp Boston Monthly Outings for 2016
If your organization would like to put together a special event and host a History Camp Boston outing in 2016, let us know. Attendance ranges from 10 to 30, and organizations are welcome to charge their standard admission. We’re looking for an event for every month next year except March, which is when History Camp Boston 2016 takes place; a few organizations have already expressed interest particular months.
