Built in 1637, the Fairbanks House is the oldest wooden structure standing in North America. Eight generations of the Fairbanks family lived in and added onto the house between 1637 and 1904. The museum is still owned and operated by the family today. Largely untouched and unrestored, the house is considered to be a prime example of colonial architecture. Your tour will take you through the house and collections to see how the building and the family changed over almost 400 years as well as how the museum has worked to preserve the site over the last 113.

The Fairbanks House is about one mile from Endicott station on the Commuter Rail, and about a half mile from the 34E bus stop on Washington Street at Harris Street near Dedham Square.
