Maps come in many shapes and forms. Come to the Leventhal Map Center for a special collections viewing straight from our vault!
The LMEC’s collection includes everything from an 18th-century map of Boston on a powder horn to fanciful pictorial maps from the 20th century. Come experience some of the more unusual and delightful ways map makers have portrayed their worlds. Our tour will include everything from 15th century atlases that have not yet been digitized to a look at how our work georeferencing maps has opened the collections up in new and exciting ways. Finally, tour the exhibition America Transformed: Mapping the 19th Century which includes a rare example of a mechanical map!
More about the Leventhal Map & Education Center
The Norman B. Leventhal Map & Education Center is located at the Boston Public Library in Copley Square. Its collection includes 200,000 maps and 5,000 atlases dating the 15th century to the present.

700 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02116. Once you enter the Boston Public Library, it is located off the courtyard.
