Join us at the Boston City Archives, where we will have the opportunity to view a handpicked selection of treasures with Marta Crilly, Archivist for Research and Outreach.Boston City Archives houses more than 35,000 cubic feet of city records, from poll tax records to school newspapers to the city’s legal files. Their records include files on the Anthony Burns fugitive slave case, records of the Cocoanut Grove Fire, and documentation of Boston’s school desegregation. We’ll tour the city’s records vault, records processing area, and reading room, and view some of the city’s most interesting and surprising records. We’ll also discuss how to research your ancestors, your house, or your neighborhood using the City Archives’ collections.

Where
The Boston Archives and Records Management Department is located at 201 Rivermoor Street in West Roxbury, MA 02132.
For those who plan to drive, take the VFW Parkway and look for Charles Park Drive between Al Wadi restaurant and a hockey rink. The neighboring Home Depot is a good landmark.
Transit
The 36 bus is the best bet to access the Archives. Pay attention to the different schedule variations.
- There is one bus departing Forest Hills at 6:35pm that will drop you at Rivermoor Industrial Park (where the Archives are located) at 6:57pm.
- Any bus going to the VA Hospital drops you about a 12 minute walk from the Archives.
It may be possible to walk from the West Roxbury stop on the Commuter Rail’s Needham Line, but it is about 1.5 miles away.
