The Pursuit of History: Forging the Continental Army is designed for people who are passionate about history and who want to take a deep dive and explore important events in our nation’s history where they happened.
If you are a life-long student of history, this day will be like no other you’ve experienced.
Updated June 14, 2023: View photos of the sessions, tour, and dinner.
Sold out. Thanks to everyone for the great response. Looking forward to seeing you in May!
We created The Pursuit of History: Forging the Continental Army based on our discussions with more than 125 noted history authors over the last year and a half and History Camp, a ground-breaking annual event for adults that we started in 2014 in Boston.
We will meet on May 19, 2023 at Valley Forge where events that helped shape our nation took place. Gathering in the library of the Washington Memorial Chapel, we will hear from and talk with noted authors who have made understanding this period in our nation’s history their life’s work. We will tour Valley Forge, by bus and on foot, going into a level of detail and complexity over a two-hour period that is unlike any tour you may have taken at Valley Forge.
And we’ll end the day with dinner in a private dining room at the historic General Warren Inn.
You will be part a small group of individuals—attendance is strictly limited to 40 people—all of whom are deeply read and share your passion for our nation’s history. All know the basics and are hungry for the details, the context, the complexities, and the individuals, the famous and the all-but-forgotten.
You will also receive the jacket we have selected for this special weekend with “The Pursuit of History: Forging the Continental Army” embroidered on it.
Select the optional book package when you register and you will receive the author’s three books in advance. (They are priced at a savings over their cost on Amazon.) If you wish to bring your books with you, you can have them inscribed and signed by our authors.
And to make a weekend of it, add History Camp Valley Forge on Saturday and our tour of “Revolutionary Philadelphia” on Sunday to registration.
The Pursuit of History Weekends
This is the first of a series of small group experiences we are planning for dedicated history lovers that will be held in historic cities across the country. Taking place once or twice a year and lasting from one to three days, these will cover events that took place in that city and region and examine how they shaped our nation and our people.
As with The Pursuit of History: Forging the Continental Army, these will be very limited, and participants in our inaugural event will have the first opportunity to register for our next Pursuit of History Weekend.
Join us this May in Valley Forge. Limited to 40 participants. Sold out. This sold out in 28 days. Sign up for news of future Pursuit of History weekends.
If you have questions about any aspect of our day together in May, send us e-mail (below) or call Lee at 469-233-7712.
We look forward to meeting you at Washington Memorial Chapel the morning of May 19.
