Getting to History Camp

History Camp Boston will be held at Suffolk University Law School’s Sargent Hall, located at 120 Tremont Street in Boston (Google map), in downtown Boston across from the Old Granary Burying Ground on the Freedom Trail and steps from Boston Common.

Boston’s Logan Airport is the closest airport; Manchester-Boston Regional Airport in Manchester, New Hampshire, and T. F. Green in Warwick, Rhode Island are both within about an hour’s drive.

When making your reservations, consider staying at least through Sunday afternoon.

Updated July 25: If you are flying into and out of Logan, read about a major tunnel closure that may affect your travel time from Logan to East Boston. (The closure may not affect you at all depending on where you’re staying.)

Mass transit

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority website and the MBTA Trip Planner. have helpful information about using the subway (the “T”) and commuter rail. Google Maps includes information on all transportation options.

Commuter Rail and Amtrak
Amtrak serves Boston making stops at Back Bay, South Station, and North Station (check schedule for specific stops). South Station is the closest station to the event and is served by the T as well as taxi cabs and Uber/Lyft. It’s about a 10 minute walk to Suffolk from South Station and a 15 minute walk from North Station.

Outlying T Stations
To avoid driving in the city, head to one of the outlying subway stations where you can park and take the subway in. The station locations: Blue Line – Wonderland, Green Line – Riverside, Red Line – Alewife or Braintree. The stop closest to Suffolk Law School is Park Street on the Green and Red lines. From there, it’s a two minute walk.

Alternatively, the Blue line goes to Government Center, which is a couple blocks from Suffolk. The Government Center station is on Cambridge St., which turns into Tremont St.

If you are driving, on a Saturday morning there’s not much traffic. We recommend two garages, both of which are close and modern:

Recommended: The “Center Plaza” Garage

We recommend the “Center Plaza” parking garage on Tremont Street, which is a one way street. (Suffolk Law School is about a block further down the street, opposite the Old Granary Burying Ground.)
Navigating to the garage can be confusing. Welcome to Boston!
  • This is parking for the building called “One Beacon Street,” and Beacon is the cross street.
  • On the sign it says “Center Plaza,” but if you enter “Center Plaza” in your GPS/maps program you may not end up at the entrance to the garage, so we suggest you enter “32 Tremont Street,” which is across the street.
  • Some folks have told us that entering “32 Tremont Street, Boston” into their GPS took them to a different neighborhood. You’re looking for downtown Boston.
  • If entering that doesn’t get you to a map that shows the intersection of Tremont and Beacon / School (Beacon changes to School when it crosses Tremont), enter “King’s Chapel Burying Ground.” There is only one of those, and the street entrance to the garage is 250′ from the front door of King’s Chapel.
  • Or, enter “Suffolk University Law School,” which is about a block and a half further down the street.

Other nearby garages

And in addition to those listed below, you can find discounted parking with a parking app, such as Spot Hero.

  • The Garage at Post Office Square
The garage entrance is at 55 Pearl Street and 130 Congress Street and it is open 24 hours. For additional information, visit their website or call them at (617) 646-1430
  • Center Plaza Garage
Entrances on Somerset and Tremont Streets, 617-742-7807
  • Charles River Garage
Entrance on Cambridge Street under the Charles River Shopping Plaza parking lot next to the Holiday Inn Hotel, 617-742-2819
  • Pi Alley Garage

  • Government Center Garage
Entrances on New Sudbury and New Chardon Streets, 617-227-0385
  • Boston Common Garage

There are also hundreds of hotel choices throughout the area—from hotels and Airbnbs in the city to less expensive lodging outside the city.

Even if you’re not flying in or driving a long distance, you may wish to consider staying in or near Boston. History Camp takes place on Saturday and we’ll have a special event Saturday night. In addition, some local organizations may have special tours, events, or discounts for History Camp attendees on Sunday.

The Parker House is just steps from Suffolk Law School where History Camp takes place. It is a legendary hotel and can be expensive.

If you stay outside of Boston, driving in or taking mass transit on a Saturday will not be bad. You can also drive to one of the outer MBTA stations and take the “T” or Uber in. See more Transit information above.
