The Bolling Haxall House is the Italianate gem of Richmond, boasting 14foot ceilings, original cast iron fencing and architectural details, a barrel vaulted front pediment, and numerous period furnishings and artworks. 

Built in 1858 for businessman Bolling Haxall it was later purchased by The Woman’s Club of Richmond. 

Women’s clubs were becoming popular across the country in the late Victorian period as a place for women to gather for a variety of purposes. The Women’s Club of Richmond was started in 1894 with a focus on education for women. 

Special for this History Camp tour: Items from the archive collection will be on display, including photos and historical correspondence of The Woman’s Club of Richmond, circa 1894, owners of the house since 1900.

The tour will be about 1 hour followed by 30-60 minutes to inspect the special items on display and ask questions. Total time will be 1.5-2 hours.
