We’re kicking off 2020 with a trip to the William Hickling Prescott House, a property of The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Listed at number 33 of Boston Magazine’s 100 Best Buildings in Boston, the William Hickling Prescott House is a fine example of Federal architecture from 1808. From 1845-1859, it was home to William Hickling Prescott, a renowned historian. Prescott was one of the first English-speaking historians to write about the Spanish Empire including its monarchs and the conquests of Mexico and Peru. In December 2019, the house will be featured in the film Little Women.

During this tour, we will focus on the history and transformation of the Prescott family from patriot soldiers in the Revolutionary war to elitist American aristocrats who were wined and dined by British royalty in the 1850s.
